Group Memberships: Clearing up the Confusion

Registering for the Studio Tour is relatively easy for individual artists. However, group registrations are a bit more complicated. In fact, there are four different ways groups can be involved in the PCAAS. We hope this information helps to clarify what your choices are.

But before we begin, let’s define some terms.

Gallery: a building in our catchment area that displays artworks for sale seasonally or all year round. Examples include Peggy’s Cove Glass. Gallery registrations are straightforward. The Studio Tour membership fee is $160 and exhibiting artists do not need to be PCAAS members, but we strongly encourage them to do so.

Group: two or more artists who exhibit together during the Studio Tour at a location within our catchment area.

Membership: the benefits of being an individual or group member of the PCAAS are outlined on our website. The most appreciated benefits include:

    • the opportunity to network with other artists;

    • eligibility for showcasing art in events such as Winter in the Bay and the Prow Gallery Members’ Exhibit;

    • eligibility for participation in special members’ projects such as Take Away;

    • and the eligibility for showcasing art at the Community Enterprise Centre and the Tantallon Credit Union throughout the year.

  •

Membership fees are included in Studio Tour registrations. Membership fees for individuals or groups not participating in the Studio Tour are $40 and $100, respectively.

Profile: a webpage with information about the artist, gallery or group. This includes description of the work; biography; location where they will be showing during the Studio Tour; contact information; links to social media; and one or more images typical of the work that will be on exhibit. Profiles are maintained on the PCAAS website for a year.

Listing: a location number on the Studio Tour map, both printed and online versions.

GROUP PROFILE & INDIVIDUAL PROFILES

Fee $100 for Individual profile(s)

• ONE profile for the group. No names of individual artists are included in the profile, only a description of the group and the type(s) of art.

• SOME or ALL the participating artists register as individuals in the Studio Tour ($100 each).

• Artists who register individually have their own profile on the websites and have their own listing on the Studio Tour map.

• Artists who do NOT register individually are still eligible to exhibit under the “umbrella registration” of the group, however, they will not have a profile or listing themselves.

• An example from the 2025 Studio Tour is Brushstrokes by the Bay with Evan LeBlanc having an individual profile at the same location. Several other artists in this group are not registered individually but are exhibiting under the “umbrella registration” of the group. Most are members of the PCAAS.

• Large or small groups

• Groups with some artists who wish to have individual profiles and others who do not.

Fee $100 for Individual profile(s)

• The group does not register and does not have a profile or listing.

• Individual artists within this group ALL register as individuals in the Studio Tour ($100 each).

• An example of this in 2025 is Aspotogan Arts & Crafts.

• Large or small groups
• Groups wishing to enjoy the benefits of membership but not wishing to participate in the Studio Tour
